20 years ago when I was a mentor at Dixon Elementary School in the Evergreen Joy Road section of Detroit, very near the Detroit/Dearborn border, I began to discover the many stores and small businesses along Warren Avenue. I am particularly attracted to the many greengrocers, bakeries and restaurants in the area. I enrolled in the HYPE Recreation center fitness programs. Today’s Dearborn is not the same Dearborn as it was when Orville Hubbard was mayor and my dad trembled as we drove down Schaefer to get to the Black section of Southwest Detroit because our family is Black. I think that the American position to support Israelis’ bombing of homes, hospitals and mosques is monstrous. The thought that our government is contemplating sending more money to Israel when they already outmatch on every level the efforts of the Palestinians is wrong. For the WSJ writer to describe Dearborn in such accusatory ways is furthering hate mongering. Donald Trump and his ilk have cornered the market on rampant hate mongering. No need for the WSJ to wallow in the same muck. What happened to fair and unbiased journalism?
